Ten Years of Solar at Our Redondo Beach Headquarters
In 2012, Wedgewood moved its headquarters to Redondo Beach, California. As part of the build-out, we installed solar panels over our parking lot.
Ten years later, that decision has compounded in ways worth pausing to recognize.
A Decade of Impact
The solar installation at our Redondo Beach headquarters generates meaningful electricity savings every year. Over the course of ten years, that consistent annual output adds up to something significant. Based on our annual figures, the cumulative environmental impact of our solar installation is estimated at:
10-Year Cumulative Impact
• The equivalent of 11,350 cars not driven
• 121,450 barrels of crude oil not burned
• 115,104,940 lbs of carbon dioxide emissions avoided
Figures are estimates based on consistent annual solar output measured at our Redondo Beach headquarters.
The Greenest Building Is One That Already Exists
This principle sits at the core of what Wedgewood Homes does. Every home we purchase is a home that does not get torn down. Every restoration we complete is a structure that stays in the community rather than ending up in a landfill. Renovation is, by its nature, a more sustainable path than new construction — and our headquarters reflects that same philosophy at the building level.
Installing solar over our parking lot was a practical decision as much as an environmental one. Clean energy at our offices means lower operating costs over time, a reduced carbon footprint, and a reminder to our team that how we operate matters as much as what we produce.
What the Next Ten Years Look Like
Wedgewood continues to grow — more markets, more homes, more communities. The way we approach that growth is rooted in the same values that shaped our headquarters build in 2012. Responsible stewardship of homes, neighborhoods, and resources is something we think about every day, at every level of the business.
